Young Man Shot and Killed by an Unknown Person in Jabalia

A young man died on Wednesday evening, 23 October 2019, due to a live bullet wound to the head he sustained earlier the same day, in Izzbet Abdrabo in Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip. This incident is considered a result of the state of weapon proliferation in the Gaza Strip.

According to PCHR’s investigations, 19-year-old Ihab Sharif Moussa Abu-Telikh arrived at the Indonesian Hospital in Jabalia at approximately 06:50 AM on Wednesday with a bullet in his head and he was deemed in extremely critical condition. Field investigations indicate that Abu-Telikh was at sitting at a condolences house for Dahlan family in Izzbet Abdrabo, when he sustained a bullet to the head from an unknown source. He was transferred to the Indonesian hospital and then to al-Shifaa hospital in Gaza due to his critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 20:00 on Wednesday due to his wound.

The police arrived at the scene and opened an investigation to identify the source of the bullet.

PCHR expresses its concern over the continued loss of lives due to the persistent phenomenon of weapons proliferation. The Centre calls upon concerned authorities to prosecute perpetrators, and to take necessary measures to safeguard citizens and enforce deterrence.
