Civilian killed in Family Dispute in Gaza City

 

On Friday, a civilian was killed by live bullets during a family dispute erupted between him and his brother in Gaza City. This is part of the state of the proliferation of weapons and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Right (PCHR), at approximately 19:00 on Friday, 10 August 2018, T. ‘A. (24) arrived as a dead body at al-Shifa Hospital after being hit with many live bullets throughout his body.

Ayman al-Batniji, Spokesperson of the Palestinian Police in Gaza, said to PCHR’s fieldworker that a family dispute erupted between 2 siblings due to family arguments. The younger brother opened fire at his older brother, which resulted in killing him immediately. The police then rushed to the area, arrested the shooter and confiscated his firearm. The killer reenacted the crime scene in the presence of the police.

According to the Forensic Medicine Department, (T. ‘A.) was hit with many live bullets throughout his body. As a result, he was immediately killed.

PCHR condemns the killing of (T. ‘A.), and calls upon the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to put an end to the proliferation of weapons and to maintain the safety and security of civilians.
