PCHR Condemns Israeli Forces Arrest of Former Palestinian Minister of Local Government Issa Al-Ja’bari and PLC Member Hatem Qafisha

Ref: 05/2016 The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) strongly condemns the Israeli forces arrest of Issa Al-Ja'bari, the Former Palestinian Minister of Local Government, and Hatem Qafisha, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) representing the Change and Reform Bloc of Hamas Movement, after raiding their houses in Hebron yesterday. Gaza Strip: Attacks in the border areas and their consequences

Following disengagement from the Gaza Strip in September 2005, Israel unilaterally and illegally established a so-called “buffer zone”, an area prohibited to Palestinians along the land and sea borders of the Gaza Strip. Israeli Attacks on Fishermen in the Gaza Sea

Israeli Naval forces continued to carry out attacks on Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip during the reporting period (01 November - 31 December 2015). All attacks took place within 6 nautical miles. PCHR documented 22 shooting incidents, due to which, 2 fishermen were wounded and a fishing boat was damaged. Moreover, PCHR documented 6 shelling incidents and Israeli gunboats chasing fishing boats in the Gaza Strip waters. PCHR Condemns Application of Force-Feeding against Administrative Detainee, Journalist Mohammed al-Qeeq

Ref: 03/2016 In an unprecedented step on Tuesday, 12 January 2016, Israeli forces applied the force-feeding law against the administrative detainee, journalist Mohammed al-Qeeq, who has been on a hunger strike for about 50 days. Al-Qeeq was handcuffed and then forcibly administrated intravenous fluids.
