Tzipi Livni refuses police interview in relation to war crimes investigation; British Government provide last-minute immunity

Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Unit transmitted a letter to the Israeli Embassy in London last week inviting Ms. Tzipi Livni to a police interview under caution in relation to her role in Israel’s 2008-2009 offensive on the Gaza Strip (Operation ‘Cast Lead’). At the time of the offensive Ms. Livni was Minister for Foreign Affairs and a member of the Security Cabinet. Ms. Livni is suspected of having committed war crimes during Operation Cast Lead. Palestinian Human Rights Organisations Deliver Submission to the International Criminal Court on Alleged Israeli, War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity during 2014 Gaza offensive

Today, in a historic moment in Palestinian pursuit of accountability, four Palestinian human rights organisations delivered a confidential communication to Madam Prosecutor Bensouda of the International Criminal Court on behalf of themselves and Palestinian victims of Israel’s “Operation Protective Edge”.
