Sourani: We are fully Confident Reconciliation Will Be Achieved

Ref: 39/2017

On Thursday, 28 September 2017, Raji Sourani, Director of the Paelstinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR, received Mr. Jamie Wheeller, Head of the Political Team in the British Consulate General in Jerusalem and Kamal al-Gherbawi, Director of the Consulate’s office in Gaza, in PCHR’s Head Office in Gaza City.

The meeting discussed the latest developments on the human rights situation.  PCHR’s Director emphasized on the Israeli violations of the international human rights and humanitarian laws in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

The meeting also discussed the Palestinian internal situation in light of the latest developments related to the reconciliation reached in Cairo.  PCHR’s Director expressed to the visiting delegation his optimism and civil society organizations’ optimism of achieving the internal reconciliation, hoping that it would be a prelude to end the unjust closure on the Gaza Strip.  Sourani also stressed that he along with the human rights organizations are fully prepared to supervise the reconciliation process and pushing it ahead.
