Civilian Shot Dead by Unknown Persons in Nablus
Today Morning, 24 September 2017, a civilian was killed after unknown persons opened fire at him in Nablus. This is part of the state of proliferation of weapons and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 11:15 on Sunday, 24 September 2017, Bashar Hafez Hamami (44) was shot dead by unknown persons when he was guarding an under-construction building on Street 16 near the old campus of Annajah National University in the center of Nablus. As a result, Hamami was hit with a bullet to the chest and announced dead on arrival at Nablus Specialist Hospital. The Palestinian Police arrived at the scene, closed it, opened investigation into the incident and started searching for the perpetrators.
PCHR hereby condemns the killing of Hamami and calls upon the Attorney General to investigate the incident and bring those involved into justice.
