Child Killed and 4 Persons Injured by Explosion of Suspicious Object in Khan Yunis

Field Update

 

On Saturday evening, 05th January 2013, a 6-year-old
child was killed, and 4 persons, including 3 children, were injured, when one
of them mishandled a suspicious object.

 

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for
Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 16:30 on Saturday, 05th
January 2013, 6-year-old Mousa Mosheer Kaware’ was killed when he mishandled a
mysterious object which exploded near Ibn al-Qayem Mosque in Jouret al-Lout
area in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip. 
Additionally, 4 persons, including 3 children, were injured:

 

1- Ibrahim
Hussein Kaware’, 23, injured by shrapnel to the abdomen;

2- Asmaa’
Mosheer Kaware’, 13, injured by shrapnel to the right thigh;

3- Mohammed
‘Omar Kaware’, 9, injured by shrapnel to the chest and the abdomen; and

4- Marah ‘Emad
Kaware’, 13, injured by shrapnel to the abdomen.

 

The Palestinian police arrived at the scene and opened an investigation,
and remnants of the exploded object were transferred to the Explosive Ordnance
Disposal to determine their nature.

 

PCHR calls upon concerned bodies in the Palestinian Authority to
take necessary measures to ensure protection for the civilians.
