Mohammed Dahman Released

PRESS RELEASE

MOHAMMED DAHMAN WAS RELEASED

AT 7.00 GMT ON 27 AUGUST 1996

Published @ 8.00 GMT/ 27 August 1996

Mohammed Dahman, director of Adameer Prisoner Support Association, was released from detention at 10.00 hours local time.

Dahman was arrested by Palestinian police on 12 August 1996, and has been held in detention until his release this morning.

He was arrested after Adameer issued a press release asking the Palestinian National Authority to investigate the case of Nahid Dahalan, a Palestinian who died in suspicious circumstances Wednesday, August 7, 1996.

Dahman was imprisoned for 19 years during the Israeli occupation and is a prominent public figure in the Gaza Strip due, in particular, to his efforts on behalf of Palestinians imprisoned by the Israeli authorities.
