In response to PCHR’s Request, Ashkelon Magistrate’s Court Decides to Release Director of Beit Hanoun “Erez” Crossing
On Monday, 05 November 2018, the Ashkelon Magistrate’s Court decided to release Director of Beit Hanoun “Erez” Crossing, Naser al-Kilani (50), from Beit Lahia.
According to the Documentation by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), on 04 October 2018, al-Kilani was arrested when he was on his way from the Gaza Strip to Ramallah via Beit Hanoun Crossing.
PCHR, in its capacity as the legal representative of al-Kiliani, has followed up the case from the very beginning of his arrest as its lawyers attended all the hearings on the extension of detention period before the Judge of the Ashkelon Magistrate’s Court. At the request of PCHR’s lawyer, the Court responded and decided to release him on Monday, 05 November 2018, without an indictment against him.
It should be mentioned that this is not the first time employees of the Ministry of Civil Affairs in Gaza being arrested as on 05 July 2018, Dr. Saed al-Ghoul, Director General of the Branch Offices in the Ministry of Civil Affairs in Gaza, was arrested but released on 01 August 2018 without an indictment against him as well.
