Sourani Receives Head of ICRC’s Legal Department

Ref: 01/2018

Raji Sourani, Director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) received Karen Lohner, Head of the Legal Department at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) and Israel along with Khalil al-Wazir, ICRC’s Legal Advisor in Gaza.

The meeting addressed the long-term joint cooperation between PCHR and ICRC as PCHR has historical and special relation with ICRC’s staff in the oPt and Geneva for more than 25 years. The meeting also highlighted the human rights situation in the oPt concerning both the Israeli and Palestinian agenda.

It should be noted that the Head of the Legal Department participated in delivering lectures within a specialized course on the international law and international humanitarian law for young lawyers. Such courses are held by PCHR for 2 years in cooperation with Bertha Justice Foundation-London so that lawyers will graduate qualified and specialized in the international law, international humanitarian law and the International Criminal Court.
