During His Meeting with Delegation from Hamas Movement, Sourani Says: “Reconciliation Shall Be Strategic and Irreversible Choice”

Ref: 50/2017

On Tuesday, 05 December 2017, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) received a delegation from Hamas Information Office headed by Mushir al-Masri, Hamas Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), along with Fawzi Barhoum, Spokesperson of Hamas Movement to Media; Taher al-Nunu, Media Advisor to the Head of Hamas Political Bureau; and Salamah Ma’rouf, Head of the Government’s Information Office in Gaza. The delegation met with Raji Sourani, PCHR’s Director, and the Administration Unit’s staff.

The meeting discussed the recent developments regarding the national reconciliation and Egypt’s positive role in pressurizingthe Palestinian factions to move forward with the reconciliation.

Sourani stressed that the reconciliation choice shall be strategic and irreversible. He added that going back to division will lead to a state of political nihilism and destruction of the Palestinian people and their cause.

Moreover, Sourani praised that Egypt embraces the national reconciliation efforts, fulfilling its historical role in supporting the Palestinian People and their national cause.

Sourani also emphasized the importance of the media positive role in the coming days.  He said that drifting into media bickering should be avoided so that it would not create a negative sphere. Sourani also stressed on the importance of initiating measures relevant to public freedoms.
