One Palestinian Killed and Another Wounded in a Familial Dispute in al-Bureij Refugee Camp in Central Gaza PDF Print E-mail

Khaled Abu Kmeil, from al-Bureij Refugee Camp, died this morning from wounds he sustained yesterday in a familial dispute. This incident is part of the state of security chaos and assaults on the rule of law prevailing in the occupiedPalestinianterritory (oPt).

 

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at 07:00 this morning, 06 August 2012,medical sources in the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, located in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, announced the death of KhaledTaher Abu Kmeil (36)from wounds he sustained yesterday in a familial dispute in al-Bureij refugee camp. The dispute erupted between members of the Abu Kmeil family, and escalated to the use of gunfire by a family member who woundedKhaled Abu Kmeilwith a bullet to the abdomen and Imad Ahmed Abu Kmeil (22)with a bullet to the right leg. The wounded were transferred to the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for medical treatment.Khaled was laterpronounced dead.

 

The Palestinian police told PCHR’s fieldworker that they arrived at the scene, opened an investigation and arrested the individual who opened fire.

 

PCHR condemns this incident, which is part of the state of security chaos and assaults on the rule of law prevailing in theoPt, and calls upon the Office of the Attorney General to open a serious investigation into the incident and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
