Hand Grenades Thrown at Two Persons in al-Boreij and Jabalya Camps PDF Print E-mail

Field Update

 

In the past two days, two persons were injured when hand grenades were thrown towards them by unknown militants in two separate attacks in al-Boreij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, and Jabalya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. 

 

According to investigations conducted by PCHR, at approximately 18:45 on Saturday, 13 March 2010, Sa'id Riad al-Saloul, 22, from al-Boreij refugee camp, was injured by shrapnel from a hand grenade to the left foot and sustained bruises throughout the body, when he was attacked by unknown persons. According to Riad Hassan al-Salooul, the victim's father, 10 persons, including 6 masked and armed ones, attacked his son near al-Boreij Preparatory School. They fired into the air and threw a hand grenade near him. The police arrived at the area and opened an investigation into the attack.

 

At approximately 01:40 on Friday, 12 March 2010, unknown persons threw a hand grenade towards 'Abdul Hai 'Abdul Majid al-Mabhouh, 47, an employee in the Ministry of Interior, when he was near his house in Block 9 in Jabalya refugee camp. He sustained bruises throughout the body as he jumped when he the hand grenade was thrown near him. The police opened an investigation into the attack.

 

On Friday evening, 05 March 2010, unknown persons fired at the house of a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah Movement in Gaza City. No casualties were reported.

 

PCHR condemns these attack, which falls within the prevalent state of security chaos in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. PCHR further calls upon the Attorney-General's office to seriously investigate the attacks and bring the perpetrators to justice.
