Car Blown up in Khan Yunis and Fire
Set in Resort's Entrance in Gaza
This morning, unknown
persons detonated a bomb in a car belonging to Yousef Sarsour, a Hamas
leader in Khan Yunis, and fire was set in the entrance of al-Basha
resort in Gaza City. These two attacks are part of the state of
security chaos and misuse of weapons plaguing the Occupied Palestinian
Territory.
According to investigations
conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at
approximately 03:00 on Tuesday, 02 February 2010, unknown persons
detonated a bomb in a white Subaru belonging to Yousef Mohammed Sarsour,
51, a Hamas leader in the town of Khan Yunis in the southern the Gaza
Strip. The car was destroyed and two children who had been sleeping in
their home were hit by glass fragments as a result of the explosion.
The two children were evacuated to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis for
medical treatment. Medical sources described their injuries as light.
In a separate incident, at
approximately 05:30 on Tuesday, 02 February 2010, unknown persons set
fire in the entrance of al-Basha resort in al-Daraj neighborhood in the
east of Gaza City. The resort belongs to Mohammed Zakareya al-Sawafiri.
The entrance and the banner of the resort were damaged.
PCHR strongly condemns
these two attacks which are part of the state of security chaos and
misuse of weapons. PCHR calls upon the office of the Attorney-General
to open serious investigations into these incidents and to bring the
perpetrators to justice.
