Naval Police Officer's Car Blown up in Gaza
On
Tuesday morning, 26 January 2009, unknown persons detonated a bomb in a
car belonging to a naval police officer in Gaza City. No casualties
were reported.
According to investigations conducted by PCHR, at approximately 07:10 on
Tuesday, unknown persons detonated a bombs under a car belonging to
Maher Ibrahim al-Li, 36, an officer of the naval police, when it was
parked near his house in al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City. The back
of the car was heavily damaged, but no casualties were reported. The
police arrived at the area and initiated an investigation.
The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) notes the recurrence of
such explosions recently in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the
explosion of two cars in Gaza City, without results of investigations in
such attacks being revealed. On Tuesday, 13 January 2010, unknown
persons detonated a bomb under a police vehicle near al-'Abbas police
station in the west of Gaza City. The vehicle was heavily damaged, but
no casualties were reported. Earlier on the same day, a bomb was
detonated in a car belonging to Mohammed Salam al-Ghussain, an officer
of the naval police, in al-Daraj neighborhood in the east of Gaza City.
The car was heavily damaged, but no casualties were reported.
PCHR strongly condemns these attacks, which are part of the sate of
security chaos and proliferation of weapons plaguing the Occupied
Palestinian Territory. PCHR calls upon the Attorney-General to
investigate them and bring the perpetrators to justice.
