On
the evening of Wednesday, 9 January, unknown gunmen fired a rocket-propelled
grenade at the compound of the American School in northern Gaza City, causing
damages and no injuries. And in a separate incident, unknown assailants raided
the office of the State Information Service in Gaza City and stole its
belongings.
PCHR’s preliminary investigation and the statements of the American School
guards indicate that at approximately 23:30 on Wednesday, 9 January, three
gunmen in a civilian vehicle fired one a rocket-propelled grenade at the
building of the American School north of Gaza City. The projectile caused a
large explosion and fire in the second story of the building, housing the
cafeteria and art rooms. The gunmen fled the scene. And no injuries were
reported.
At
approximately 1:00 on Monday, 7 January, unknown assailants raided the offices
of the State Information Service in a 5-story building near UN Square (Haidar
Abd El-Shafi Square) in Gaza City. They searched the offices completely and took
all computers and other equipment.
PCHR strongly condemns the attacks on the American School and the State
Information Service, and calls upon the PNA, represented by the
Attorney-General, to seriously investigate these attacks and prosecute the
perpetrators.
