PCHR’s preliminary investigation indicates that at
approximately 17:30 on Saturday, 15 September 2007, a clash erupted between El-Buheisi
and Abu Shehada clans in Deir El-Balah. The clash escalated into an armed clash,
leading to the injury of 2 persons:
-
Mahmoud Abbas El-Buheisi (45)
-
Kamal Odeh Abu Shehada (27), a member of the Executive
Force
Both were injured by bullets in the feet, and were taken to
Al-Aqsa Martys Hospital in Deir El-Balah for treatment. El-Buheisi was
transferred to the European Hospital in Khan Yunis due to the severity of his
injury. The clash was a continuation of a fist fight that broke out between
members of the two clan on Friday, 14 September 2007, over leading prayers in
Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque in Deir El-Balah.
In another incident, the European Hospital announced on
Sunday, 16 September 2007, the death of Nidal Khader El-Ashra (24) from Khan
Yunis. He was a member of the Executive Force, and died of wounds sustained
during an arrest operation during a clash between members of El-Majayda clan in
Khan Yunis.
PCHR is extremely concerned by the continued falling of
victims by the use of weapons in personal and clan clashes. The Centre
reiterates the call to the PNA, represented by the Attorney-General, to
investigate these crimes and prosecute the perpetrators.
