On
Tuesday, the body of Tal’at El-Nahhal from Rafah, was found near Shuhada
Intersection to the south of Gaza City. The body bore marks of torture and a
bullet wound in the head. El-Nahhal was abducted by unknown persons prior to his
death.
PCHR’s preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 8:30 on
Tuesday, 11 September 2007, the body of Tal’at Mohammad El-Nahhal (34), a taxi
driver from Rafah was found near Shuhada Intersection on Salah El-Deen Road to
the south of Gaza City. The victim’s hands were tied. The body was taken to
Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. It is noted that El-Nahhal was abducted by 4 masked
gunmen on Sunday, 9 September 2007, from his taxi in Taha Hussein Street in
Khirbit El-Adas area in Rafah.
The
Executive Force announced that an investigation was opened in the case; but that
no information or results were reached.
PCHR is concerned over the falling of more victims by the misuse of arms by
armed Palestinian groups. These actions are a continuation of the security chaos
in the OPT. The Centre calls upon the PNA, represented by the Attorney-General,
to investigate these crimes and prosecute the perpetrators.
