Palestinian Killed in Khan Yunis and
3 Injured in El-Bureij Refugee Camp
PCHR’s preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 13:00
on Sunday, 2 September 2007, three gunmen in a car intercepted another
car on Salah El-Deen Road near Ma’an area in Khan Yunis. The gunmen got
out of the car; and one of them forced the passenger beside the driver
out of the car. They ordered the passenger to go away quickly. Then they
fired several bullets at the driver, hitting him with several bullets in
the pelvis and thighs. The gunmen fled the area. The driver was
identified as Majed Mohammad Quweider (34) from Ma’an area. He was
pronounced dead upon arrival in the European Hospital in Khan Yunis. The
Center’s fieldworker indicated that the suspected motive of the attack
is a family vendetta.
And
at approximately 19:00, a clash broke out between members of Salem and Issa
clans in El-Bureij refugee camp. A member of Issa clan fired towards members of
Salem clan. Two members of Salem clan and a passerby were injured. The injured
are:
·
Nizar Harb El-Khatib (27), a passerby injured by a
bullet in the back. He was transferred to Shifa Hospital in Gaza for
treatment due to the severity of the injury
·
Ismail Hasan Salem (43), injured by a bullet in the
right foot.
·
Abdallah Abd El-Hadi Salem (17), injured by shrapnel in

PCHR is extremely concerned by the continued falling of victims by the
use of weapons in personal and clan clashes. The Centre reiterates the
call to the PNA, represented by the Attorney-General, to investigate
these crimes and prosecute the perpetrators.
