On Sunday evening, 19 August 2007, an unknown
gunman shot dead a young man and wounded a child in Jabalya refugee camp
in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to investigations conducted by PCHR,
at approximately 20:30 on Sunday, 19 August 2007, Sa’ed Majed al-Telbani, 18,
from Block 4 in Jabalya refugee camp, was killed by several gunshots throughout
the body fired by an unknown gunman, when he was on his way back home. In
addition, 2-year-old ‘Alaa’ Sha’ban al-‘Otal, was lightly wounded by a gunshot
to the left leg when he was near his house.
The motive of the murder is unknown. PCHR
learnt that the Executive Force arrested a number of suspects.
PCHR strongly condemns this crime and calls
upon the Palestinian National Authority, represented by the Attorney-General to
investigate it and bringing its perpetrators to justice.
