On Tuesday, 3 July 2007, a Palestinian was killed during armed clashes between the Executive Force and ‘Izziddin al-Qassam Briages (the military wing of Hamas) on one side and militants from the Dughmosh clan on the other side in the area of his residence in Gaza City. Another Palestinian was killed Rafah for family revenge.

According to investigations conducted by PCHR:

At approximately 15:00 on Tuesday, Mazen Nabeel Sa’id al-Qassas, 23, was killed by a gunshot to the chest, when he was near his house in al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City, which witnessed armed clashes between the Executive Force and ‘Izziddin al-Qassam Briages on one side and militants from the Dughmosh clan on the other side.

At approximately 17:30 also on Thursday, unknown militants shot dead Hashem Nasser Faisal al-Keilani, 19, when he was on land belonging to his family near Rafah International Crossing Point. The victim was hit by several gunshots throughout the body. According to sources of the Executive Force, al-Keilani was killed for family revenge, and the Force arrested a suspect. Al-Keilani had been detained in Gaza Central Prison and was able to escape when Hamas took over al-Saraya security compound, where the prison is located.

PCHR is gravely concerned over the persisting state of security chaos in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and reiterates its calls for the Palestinian National Authority to take precautionary measures to ensure the non-recurrence of such incidents.
