Child Killed by a Mysterious Explosion in Rafah

According to investigations conducted by PCHR, at approximately 17:00 on Sunday, 20 May 2007, Ibrahim Hatem Jameel al-Shakhreet, 17, was admitted into Martyr Mohammed Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, as he was seriously wounded by shrapnel throughout the body when a mysterious object exploded between his hands when he was inside his house in al-Salam neighborhood in Rafah. Al-Shakhreet was then transferred to Nasser Hospital, but medical efforts to save his life failed.

PCHR is gravely concerned over increasing casualties resulting from the misuse of weapons. PCHR calls upon the Palestinian National Authority, represented by the Attorney-General, to investigate these incidents and bring those who are found responsible to justice.
