The Car of the Manager of Roots Restaurant in Gaza Blown up

On Wednesday noon, 18 April 2007, unknown persons detonated an explosive device under a car belonging to the manager of Roots Restaurant in Gaza City. The car was heavily damaged.

According to preliminary investigation conducted by PCHR, at approximately 12:15 on Wednesday, an explosive device exploded under a car (Honda) belonging to Muna ‘Adnan al-Ghalayeeni, 37, from al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, the manager of Roots Restaurant, in front of the restaurant in Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in the southwest of Gaza City. The car was heavily damaged, but no casualties were reported.

According to the Palestinian police, the explosion resulted from a home-made bomb planted by unknown persons under the car and investigations are still ongoing.

PCHR is gravely concerned over this latest attack, which is part of the state of security chaos and misuse of weapons prevailing in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. PCHR calls upon the Palestinian National Authority, represented by the Attorney-General, to investigate this attack and bring those who are found responsible to justice.
