A Man Killed and a Child Wounded in Northern Gaza Strip

On Tuesday evening, 13 February 2007, ‘Abdul Karim Ibrahim Habeeb, 40, from the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, was shot dead by unknown persons.

According to investigations conducted by PCHR, at approximately 16:45 on Tuesday, a number of unknown gunmen opened fire from their car at Habeeb near the al-Shuhada graveyard in the southeast of Jabalya. He was killed by several gunshots to the head. Habeeb was kidnapped by unknown gunmen two days ago. According to initial information available to PCHR, Habeeb was shot for old personal and financial disputes.

PCHR is gravely concerned over the continuation of the use of weapons in personal and family disputes, which is further aggravating the state of lawlessness in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. PCHR calls upon the Palestinian National Authority, represented by the Attorney-General, to investigate these attacks and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
