Lawyer Raji Sourani, Director of PCHR, has continued his visit to the Jordanian capital – Amman, which started on 19 February 2008 upon an invitation from the Olof Palme International Center (OPIC).

During this visit, Sourani met with Ms. Viola Furubjelke, Secretary General of OPIC. The meetings discussed cooperation between PCHR and OPIC concerning the issue of Palestinian internal dialogues, and there was a preliminary agreement between the two sides to organize a series of activities, including workshops, lectures and conferences, to activate the invitation for Palestinian national dialogue. This agreement will be finalized during a visit to be conducted by representatives of OPIC to the Gaza Strip next week.

Sourani further contributed to a training course organized by OPIC in ‘Amman for leaders of local councils, political parties and student councils. He delivered 3 lectures on the international law and human rights.

Sourani will conclude his visit to Amman on Friday, 22 February 2008, after which he will travel to the Egyptian capital – Cairo – to attend a series of activities related to PCHR’s mandate.
