PCHR’s Training Unit
launched a training course on Monday, 4 February 2008, on “Human Rights and
Tolerance.” The trainees were members of the student parliament in UNRWA’s
Gaza Training College in Gaza. The course is held in the Training College
from the period 4-7 February 2008 for 25 students.
The training course covers a
variety of human rights topics. These include the historical development of
human rights, the International Bill of Human Rights, and the Convention on the
Rights of the Child. In addition, the course covers issue such as mediation and
conflict resolution between students, tolerance, democracy, and student
parliaments.
Trainers from PCHR and other
institutions run the course. They include Samir Hasaneya (lawyer in the Women’s
Unit), Bassam El-Aqra (director of the Training Unit), Bassam Abu Hashish
(lecturer in Al-Aqsa University), Ibrahim Weshah (human rights counselor in
UNRWA), and Ahmad Abd El-Wahhab (student counselor in the Gaza Training
College).
This training course is a
component of the annual training program between PCHR and UNRWA, which is
running for the 6th consecutive year.
