Over the past two days, PCHR received
several diplomats and lawyers to discuss the human rights situation in the OPT.
On 10 October, PCHR’s Director, Raji
Sourani, received several lawyers from UNRWA, including Anna Segall (Chief of
the International Law Division in the Department of Legal Affairs), Lance
Bartholomeusz (Legal Officer in the Department of Legal Affairs), and Claire
Mitchell (Field Legal Officer). And on the same day, Sourani met Jacquiline
Coulon-Lascaux, the Social and Humanitarian Cooperation Attache in the French
Consulate in Jerusalem.
On 9 October 2007, Sourani met the Deputy
German Representative to the PNA, Ms. Gudruh Isphording, and the journalist Jorg
Bremer.
These meetings are a continuation of the
Center’s activities to highlight the human rights situation in the OPT,
especially the situation in the Gaza Strip after the June events and the impact
of the Israeli closure on the Strip since June 2006.
