Killings and injuries

According to PCHR’s documentation, Israeli occupying forces and settlers have killed 2714[2] Palestinians Civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).   • 1378 (57%) were killed in the West Bank (including 40 in occupied East Jerusalem).

  • 1336(43%) were killed in the Gaza strip.

  • 614 (22%) were children under age 17.

  • 418(14%) were killed in assassination operations, including at least 154 (37% of the total number of killed in assassinations) bystanders, of whom 44(11%) were children.

  • 274 (10%) were on-duty members of PNA security services.

  • 18 were on-duty medical workers, including doctors and paramedics.

  • 42 were killed by Israeli settlers residing in the OPT in violation of international humanitarian law.

  • 8602 Palestinians have been injured since the outbreak of the Intifada in the Gaza strip.

[1] From 29 September 2000 to 31 January 2005. Figures may change due to constant revision and updating of data. In addition, the unprecedented scale of Israeli attacks in the West Bank during April 2002 has made comprehensive data collection problematic.
